April at STEM Accelerator

Summer STEM week dates!

We were excited to announce this month the dates for some of our STEM weeks this summer holidays!

25th to 29th July, we’ll be at Lowestoft College and getting stuck in with mechanics, engineering, sports science and more.

Then 15th-19th August, we’ll be at UCS Ipswich with robotics, virtual reality and other technology sessions.

We will be releasing more details about what is running each day soon, so watch this space or sign up for updates here! You can see some of what we got up to in our last STEM weeks in the video below!

Out and about in Suffolk

We took our virtual reality demonstration to Saxmundham Free School, and gave students a go on our virtual rollercoaster! We also talked about how you can turn your own mobile phone into a VR headset and how it all works. As always, it was very popular!

We also took our pet robot to Ormiston Denes for their STEM careers evening, and were very impressed with the students getting to grips with their microbits. We never knew you could set them up to play snake!

Lastly, we packed up our 3D scanner and virtual reality kit for an ICT demonstration at the South West Ipswich and South Suffolk (SWISS) partnership sector awareness conference.

Coming up in May

We’re going to be at the Digital Skills Accelerator event at UCS on May 11th. Join us to find out more about Apprenticeships, and hear about what digital skills local businesses are after!

We also have several more taster sessions at schools lined up, but have room for a couple more. So teachers, get in touch if you would like us to come give a demonstration at your school!
